 Known

Being a mom has been the most incredible yet sanctifying thing i've ever done; i'm sure most would be in agreement on this.
This morning i was running with Jack in the jogger and i saw a mom with her baby crying and her little girl throwing a tantrum because she wanted to walk. My how i related to this woman. I thought, i've been there girl and ready myself at any moment for the crap to hit the fan and have to stop my relaxing time.

This stretching of self... letting little people change dramatically what and how I do everything. I still struggle with selfishness, i think i always will. but i know that i'm being changed by having little people and for that i am grateful, sometimes really annoyed by it, but thankful when it's all said and done. It makes me feel "known" strangely enough.

another aspect of motherhood that makes me feel "known":
i was terrified of boys when i was growing up. even though i had boyfriends and friends that were boys, i never felt myself around them and felt horribly nervous. I knew it was silly, but it was just who i was and i rarely confessed this to anyone. When i met dan, he knew i was like this probably the minute he met me and for that i will be forever thankful. he loved me and loved my awkwardness, i guess he found it endearing or something. i'm so glad that God gave him a heart for this strange bird!

AND, here i am. with 2 boys. i think it's very humorous in fact. i love them so much i could squeeze them and kiss them all day. there is nothing awkward about me being their mom, i feel right being a boy mom. it's hilarious.

We were at edisto island this past weekend and it was so refreshing. we just went for a hiccup of a trip with some friends before camp. there were 12 kids there, you would think this would have been totally chaotic, but it wasn't. the kids got along so well and the parents seem to bond together in this beautiful way.

Jack loves the beach. i never really know what to expect with the ocean because it is the most overwhelming natural phenomenon to me. to a baby it must be massive so i could understand why will was very apprehensive when he was young.
but not jack. he is a fan of all things water. this was his first time seeing the ocean, full success!
i  love knowing things about my children, i learn new things about them everyday.

Will played so hard in the sand with his buddies. they were always working so hard. i think this is what will does best. he plays hard, sleeps hard, eats hard. he's just a little passionate guy, what else can i say.

Jason dug this amazing hole, in probably about 5 minutes. the kids had a blast in it. will told me that the pirates couldn't find us when they came because we could all hide in this hole. phew!

All tuckered out from the beach.
i love this lazy boy seat!

thanks guys for an awesome trip!
